The 17th China Children’s Film Dubbing Promotion and Exhibition Event Officially Kicks Off

On April 9, guided by the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Committee, the event was jointly organized by the China National Film Museum, the China Film Association and the China Children’s Film Association.

As a public welfare brand dedicated to children’s growth and education for sixteen years, the activity continues to uphold the purpose of “fostering children’s growth, inspiring their minds, enriching their lives, and promoting children’s cinema.” Centered around the theme “A Dream of Light and Shadow, Voices Create Brilliance,” it targets children aged 7 to 16 both domestically and internationally. With film dubbing at its core, the activity provides a platform for artistic immersion, ideological guidance, and practical growth through diverse forms such as film lectures, dubbing challenges, film culture summer camps, and talent showcases, guiding children to experience the charm of film art in the world of light and shadow.

The year 2026 marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. This edition of the event has selected classic films embodying historical memories and revolutionary spirit as dubbing materials, including Sparkling Red Star, The Letter with Feathers, The Detachment of The Hui People, Young Peng Dehuai, The Volunteers: Peace at Last, and Dead to Rights. These films guide children to revisit extraordinary years through cinematic images and grasp the spirit of the times through dubbing. Additionally, classic films showcasing China’s excellent traditional culture, such as Ne Zha 2, Chang’An, I Am What I Am, and Big Fish & Begonia, help children strengthen their cultural confidence through diverse artistic nourishment. Through classic films, children are guided to take their voices as wings, experience revolutionary sentiments in voice creation, inherit the revolutionary heritage, adhere to educating through films and cultivating through culture, deeply integrate film art with culture, and strive to nurture a new generation capable of shouldering the great task of national rejuvenation.

Let cultural exchange blend through children’s voices

Since the announcement of the event’s preparation, enthusiasm for participation has quickly spread across China and overseas.

Online, a dubbing experience platform has been established on WeChat Mini Programs. Through online lectures and interactive topics, the event achieves synchronized progress in online registration, work submission, and dubbing learning. Offline, diverse activities such as film lectures, dubbing experiences, and promotions in schools and communities bring film knowledge directly to children.

It is worth mentioning that this edition continues to expand its reach. Domestically, it reaches more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Inner Mongolia, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China. It also extends to France, Spain, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries, inviting children at home and abroad to gather for the feast of light and shadow.

This year’s event will run throughout the year, featuring a series of lively and engaging themed activities centered around film dubbing. It aims to cultivate children’s ability to perceive beauty and help aesthetic education take root in the growth of children and adolescents.

Knowledge Sharing: Exploring the Wonderful World of Film Dubbing

From March to July, through organizing a series of activities such as film lectures, museum study tours, sharing sessions with previous participants, animated film-themed concerts, and classic film screenings, children are guided to approach the art of cinema and experience the charm of the world of light and shadow.

Dubbing Challenge: Discovering New Talents and Building a Growth Ladder

From May to July, preliminary and semi-final rounds will be held both at home and abroad. A total of 80 outstanding young contestants will be selected to travel to Beijing in August for the national finals and the film culture summer camp.

Film Journey: Exploring the Sounds Behind the Screen

From July to August, in collaboration with resources from science museums, museums, and other venues across various regions, themed research and promotion activities will be simultaneously carried out in multiple locations, guiding children to explore knowledge and find joy in the world of light and shadow.

In mid-August, the national finals and film culture summer camp will be held in Beijing. Through immersive experiences such as museum exploration, film classes, star stage performances, and film journeys, children will deeply experience the charm of film and dubbing.

Style Showcase: Building a Platform for Continuous Exchange and Growth

From September to December, the event will focus on exchange, showcase and international cultural communication, partnering with the China International Children’s Film Festival to create a showcase stage where children’s voices can be heard at an international film festival.
